The AND SOY Maker and some delicious Mango and Sweet Potato Soup

Last week I got the opportunity to test out something pretty exciting, The AND SOY maker.

AND SOY is a start up based here in Vienna and was found in 2015 by Chinese born Nan Pustelnik-Zao. Nan, a trained expert in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine), started her company to bring the amazing lifestyle and health benefits of TCM to Europe and show how easy and affordable this lifestyle can be.

The company is very focused on sustainability and social responsibilities. They work closely together with the ÖHTB an organization that supports blind-deaf and visually and hearing impaired people as well as donating 30 machines to Caritas an Austrian charity organization, which is pretty remarkable for a start up if you ask me.

Let me start off by saying that this is one pretty attractive kitchen appliance, the design is so sleek. I usually like my kitchen countertops as bare as possible but the AND SOY maker has been sitting on there for a couple of days and I didn’t mind it one bit.

The main reason I really wanted to try out this product was the fact that it makes making your own plant milk so incredibly easy that I’m really confused as to why I have been buying store bought soy and nut milk for so long. All you have to do is add the ingredients into the AND SOY Maker and press a button. Now, I know that it’s possible to make your own plant milk at home in a high power blender, but they just never turn out the way the store-bought ones do to be honest. But with the AND SOY Maker they do. Even better because they don’t contain any nasty additives and lets be honest everything homemade just tastes that much better, am I right?

Making your own plant milk is not only pretty amazing for the environment as it saves a ton of packaging and garbage, but it also saves you a ton of money as 1 liter of homemade soy milks costs about 30 Cents!

Of course milk is not the only thing this machine does. It comes with 5 different settings. One that makes soy and other bean milk, one for rice and grain milk, soups and babyfood, another one for porridge (!) ,congee, chunkier soups and fruit compote, one for nut milk and raw soups (it only heats the machine up to 45C) and the final one for smoothies. Making this machine literally the perfect vegan kitchen appliance, you technically don’t even need a blender anymore. And yes you understood correctly it makes porridge with the simple press of a button.

The AND SOY maker comes not only with a measuring cup, a large jug, a sieve and cleaning tools, it also comes with a little recipe book showing you examples for all the amazing things you can do with this machine. Most of the recipes are vegan by the way.

In keeping with her focus on sustainability Nan has also created her own eco friendly dishware made from biodegradable bamboo fibre and cornstarch, which is even dishwasher save, very affordable and so pleasing to look at. Its is sold in the AND SOY online shop along with organic Austrian soybeans and other ingredients to make those delicious plant milks.

If you head over to the AND SOY online shop and enter the gift code „aboutthatfood“ you will get a free set of plates with your purchase!

I also created a little recipe for you guys using the AND SOY maker, get ready for some Mango and Sweet Potato Soup:
