Cauliflower Satay Skewers

Cauliflower is probably may favourite vegetable. It is so versatile,  mean it comes in weird colours (purple) and shapes (romanesco), you can make all kinds of dishes with it like pizza, chocolate mousse and Cauliflower Satay Skewers.

This is such a flavor rich dish I have been craving it constantly every since I made it for the first time. If your planning to make it, just make sure you marinade your cauliflower on time. Other than that it is a super easy and quick to prepare!

Serves 2


  • 1 large head of cauliflower
  • 6-8 wooden skewers

for the marinade:

  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tbsp chili flakes
  • 1 tbsp agave
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 1 tsp miso paste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp coriander
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder

for the peanut sauce:

  • 5 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp miso paste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion power
  • 1/2 tsp curry powder
  • salt to taste



  1. Start by making the marinade. Dissolve the miso paste with a little bit of hot water and mix it together with all the other ingredients.
  2. Next cut the cauliflower into chunky pieces, make sure they are not too small. Add the cauliflower into a flat ovenproof dish and cover well with the marinade. Put it in the fridge and let it soak over night or for at least 8 hours.
  3. After the cauliflower has been marinaded, preheat the oven to 200C and bake for about 25 mins. While the cauliflower is in the oven soak the wooden skewers in water.
  4. Prepare the peanut sauce by dissolving the miso in a tiny bit of hot water and adding it together with all the other ingredients into a saucepan and stir on medium/low heat until everything is well combined.
  5. When the cauliflower comes out of the oven let it cool down a little and assemble onto the skewers. Set your oven to broil and let them grill for around 10 mins. You can drizzle some of the remaining marinade and some crushed peanut on to the finished skewers. Serve with some wild rice on the side.
